I have made this pants specifically for my travels to Vietnam. The fabric I got from my mother in-laws’ stash. She had no idea of what she could with it, but I saw the possibility to easily make and wear pants from the fabric! This is the most novice version of a pants you can find and, if you need a last minute holiday clothing, this is the one to go for. I made this pants in half a day. And because of the wide cut it’s so comfortable to wear, especially in hot and humid environments. Definitely a good project for beginners.
The shirt I got on sale at H&M and the shoes are Birkenstock. Regrettable the pattern isn’t available on burdastyle. It’s from burdastyle 6/2012.
I lost my job, which means I’ve got more time to blog! *happy* But it also mean I need to work with less income every month. One of the first things I try to save money on are my beauty products. I love to buy better quality product, but don’t like to go to a cheap quality products due to their chemicals. So when I saw some videos of Michelle Pahn on you tube and I got inspired! She talks a lot about using more natural products and I love it! So in this article I will talk about all the natural products I use, and what they do for me.
The big pot on the picture is rice. I grind it in a blender to get an amazing base for scrub. Why rice and not salt or sugar you’re thinking? Well it’s a stronger grain and it doesn’t dry out your skin. I just love it! It’s also very versatile. I can mix it up with any product I like that day. I use for example coconut oil, honey and lemon juice. And the best of all is that it’s super cheap! You can buy one packet for les then two euro and use it for months. Absolutely something you should try.
Who doesn’t use coconut oil as a beauty product! It’s the hype from 2014 and I still love it. I use it mainly as night cream and body lotion. I like to mix it up with my grinded rice to get this amazing scrub. The effect of using oil as a scrub is that it leaves a nice film of oil on your skin. So when you need to exfoliate, but you have dry skin, this is the solution. I mainly use it as a body scrub, but once in a while I use it also on my face and hands.
One point to notice here, when I just started using coconut oil (or any other kind of oil), I break out. But l kept using it as a night cream and after two week my skin completely cleared out and was very well hydrated. Be patient when using oil. You’ll may think this won’t work for your skin, but it just has to adjust to the oil.
I use this mainly as a face mask. It works really well when you have had a bad break-out or had dry and red skin. If you’re having a break out, you could also use it to exfoliate. You do this by using it together with the rice. Instantly you feel your skin calm down. And if you’re worried that it will be a sticky mess. Don’t. When you use water the honey will smelt and it is super easy to clean of your face.
One tip, there is some “Super” honey who has more active elements in it for your skin. It costs around 30 euro a pot. However now this doesn’t work with for my budget, so I stay with the nice 6 euro bio honey. It works fine as well.
I only use it as a scrub mixed with the rice. It should clear the skin yet I’ve never noticed that. (Maybe because I already have a very fair skin, who knows). But I do notice, after using this scrub, my skin is very soft. I always do a honey mask afterwards. Love that combination!
Tea thee oil,
Well, this one is very easy. You put tea three oil on a cotton tip. Tap your pimple and the pimple will instantly disappear. Well ok, it disappears fast, but not instantly. It also works well on any kind of redness in your face. This is the best find I had from when I first started looking for more natural beauty products.
This is to clear my teeth. After brushing my teeth with toothpaste I put a bit of olive oil on a cotton pad and rub it on my teeth to whiten them. When I started doing this I was very skeptical at first, but after using it for about two months, it does make a difference. I was more than amazed and it is so much cheaper than whitening.
Recently I also tried to clear off my eye makeup with olive oil and I can tell you that I’m never ever going back. I was already looking for the perfect eye make-up remover and finely I’ve found one in my kitchen. You can use any kind of oil, they will all melt the make-up off without any harsh chemicals. You use it by putting some oil on your fingers, rub it gently over your eyes and then take a cotton pad and remove all the oil and make-up. You will see it takes off everything.
I also use this this one to whiten my teeth. You put your tooth brush in the powder and then you brush your teeth. It has a very salty taste. Which is not pleasant, but you’ll get used to it. DO NOT use it daily, your teeth will become very sensitive if you do. Once a week should be enough to get the desired effect. Like with the olive oil, it will take some time to see an effect. Yet still, it is so much cheaper then whitening.
So, this is an overview of all the natural products I’m currently using and loving. I still use some drugstore product on the side though, but I would love to use more natural options. If you guys have any natural beauty secrets, please let me know in the comments. I’d love to know them!
My man went on his knee and asked me to be his wife, which is the most amazing thing that could happen in a women’s life. In your dreams you hear him say all these lovely things about why he loves you. And in reality he also does, but I was so nervous I don’t remember anything. Whoops. Still I love him so much. We really don’t need words to express our love for each other.
So this being said, my love life has been no blast. It was more a pain in the ass. I’m one of those people who needs someone to be happy. Yes I know, you need to be happy with yourself as well, yet it took me a while to come to that point. The reality is that you can never be in a stable relationship when the relationship with yourself is destructive. So my tip number one: It’s ok to need a spouse to make your life more exciting, but you need to be able to make yourself happy first. And honestly, men love women who are happy and confident, not those angry and needy ones. If you want to know how to become happy with yourself you should read this guy’s blog! Good advise there.
Tip number two. Find a common interest! I love my blogging, fashion and beauty stuff and he loves his computers, cell phone and other high-tech stuff (in 2015, with all this new technology, the best kind of boyfriend you can have). Believe me, we don’t fill our night with talking about any of these subject. Our main common subject are politics, and social / cultural subjects. We love to spend our time in museums, eating exotic food and watching movies. And to be honest, I do walk, ones in a while, through a Mediamarkt looking at phones. He also reads and reviews all my post, because I’m dyslectic and can’t write without making mistakes.
Number tree. Be honest! This one was a given fact for us. In the beginning of our relationship he tried to spare my feeling by not being honest when I asked him if something made me look fat. It was so funny when I would ask him. He looked at me with this fear in his eyes like “OMG I have to tell her she looks fat in that dress but I don’t want to hurt her feelings so what do I say”- total panic. I was also honest enough to tell him that lying was useless, because I could see it in his eyes he didn’t like it (you should have seen the relieve in his face). So since then, we don’t waste our time by telling stupid white lies. Ok, sometimes it still happens, we’re still human. But the effect is that, when he does find something beautiful, I know he really means it!
Number four. Travel. If you don’t have much money than just do some simple camping trip instead. If you have more money you can enjoy bigger and longer travels. Having these kind of experiences together makes your emotional connection way stronger. The best thing you can do is unwind together with your loved one. Traveling is still consider a luxury, but with today’s hectic lifestyle, it’s becoming a necessity. And being able to enjoy that time together is important. We love to hang at the pool together, reading a book, and the next day doing some cultural sightseeing. There are so many holiday experiences out there. Just find one you both love! I have to say, I’m very lucky about this one, together with my dear fiancé.
Number five. Sex. This one I keep private! But I only say one thing! Your partner is the only one who can touch you like that, so a make it a fun and exciting experience.
All of these tip are based on my own experience and have made me very happy in my relationship. I understand this is not the same for everybody. I welcome your view on a happy relationship in the comment section.
